February 2, 2016 -- The Sea Cliff Arts Council hosted a reception for students enrolled in North Shore High School's Independent Projects in Art (IPA) program whose works have been on exhibit at the Sea Cliff Library during the month of January. North Shore High School art teacher Elissa Theiss described IPA as "a self directed program" in which each senior artist works on a year-long concentration of art, based around a chosen idea or theme. Throughout the year, students meet for weekly small-group critiques to help with the development of their concentration. Students work in the media of their choice and the program culminates in a week-long gallery show at North Shore High School for each artist. The January show at Sea Cliff Library showcased one piece from each of the twenty-two artists in Independent Projects in Art.
The works of the following student artists were included in the exhibit: Isabella Alessandrini, Jamie Commando, Stephanie Davila, Marlena Hirsch, Sonia Jain, Sarah Kimmel, Lauren Montgomery, Eloise Parisi, Abigail Spinelli, Luke Sweeney, Brooke Turner, Sarah Hartmann, Michelle Jaco, Jessica McGowan, Cassidy Morrison, Morgan Nerud, Misha Perelmuter, Nicole Schatz, Isabella Sicuranza, Christine Syracuse, Nicolas Vela, Hannah Webb.
The exhibit and reception were organized by Kathleen DiResta and Erin McDonnell of the Sea Cliff Arts Council.
