LIONS CLUB'S "PUT YOUR GAME FACE ON" RAISES FUNDS FOR CHARITYFebruary 3, 2014 -- This past Thursday evening, the Metropolitan Bistro hosted "Put Your Game Face On" a Sea Cliff-Glen Head Lions Club fundraiser to benefit local charities.
Mayor Bruce Kennedy, Village Trustee Ed Lieberman and local Business woman Terry Sciubba lent a hand as guest bartenders, and reggae band Roots Revelators entertained the packed house. Community members showed their support by wearing favorite NFL team colors, participating in the 50/50, and tipping generously. During the event, Lions Club President Marc Neal presented Mutual Concerns President Peggy Como with a check for $250. Mutual Concerns is one of the many charitable causes that the Sea Cliff - Glen Head Lions Club regularly supports. Mutual Concerns formed 29 years ago to meet the needs of residents of the North Shore School District area who are going through difficult times. The services they offer include the following: Emergency Food Center - Provides short-term supplies of canned goods, supplemented by purchases of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products. Senior Lunch Program - Seniors meet twice weekly at St. Luke’s Parish Hall to enjoy a full program of activities, companionship and a nutritious lunch. Thanksgiving & Christmas Food Baskets - All the food fixings for the holidays are provided to people needing a helping hand. Christmas Day Dinner - Christmas Dinner is provided to give people, who cannot visit family, a chance to celebrate with friends and neighbors while enjoying a festive holiday dinner. Holiday House Tour Fundraiser - A self-guided, self-paced tour of several unique Sea Cliff houses decorated for the holiday season. The price of admission includes guide books, maps, directions and a delicious full-course lunch. |
