SEA CLIFF-GLEN HEAD LIONS CLUB HONORS LOCAL CHARITIESDuring last night's Chill Out in Sea Cliff festivities, the Lions Club of Sea Cliff and Glen Head honored two charities from the surrounding area.
Lion's Club current President Marc Neal, and former president, Ed Lieberman presented Alan Geller, owner of Musu Restaurant, with a $250 donation to the Brooke Jackman Foundation. The foundation was founded in October 2001 to honor the memory of Brooke Jackman who, at the age of 23, was killed in the September 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The organization's mission is "to create and support programs enhancing the literacy and self-esteem of disadvantaged children and their families in and around the New York area." The Foundation sponsors various projects such as Family Literacy Programs, Brooke Packs, and Brooke’s Books that help thousands of children in diverse city, agency, and school programs. More information on the organization is available at http://brookejackmanfoundation.org. Later in the evening, Mr. Neal and Mr. Lieberman presented a donation to Mutual Concerns, a grassroots group that formed over 29 years ago to meet some of the pressing needs of residents in the North Shore School District area. The organization offers assistance through its Lunch Program, Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets, and a Christmas Day Dinner. The group also sponsors a Holiday House Tour Fundraiser. They are currently accepting food donations for holiday baskets at Sea Cliff Village Hall. |
