SEA CLIFF LANDMARKS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS "THE CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF PAINTINGS" ON TUESDAY MARCH 11
The second of the 2015 Sea Cliff Landmarks Association lecture series will be held on March 11 at 8:00 pm at the Sea Cliff Yacht Club and will feature Sea Cliff resident: Jonathan Sherman who will discuss the: “The Conservation and Restoration of Paintings" Jonathan Sherman will discuss why paintings deteriorate and the various methods used to restore paintings. Easel paintings as well as murals will be covered. Sherman Art Conservation is a painting conservation studio owned and operated by Jonathan Sherman. It is located at 221 Sea Cliff Avenue in Sea Cliff, Long Island. All aspects of painting Restoration/ conservation are performed on a wide variety of paintings from easel paintings to murals. Most of the work is performed in the studio although large paintings can be worked upon on site. Jonathan Sherman received his training in Art Conservation in Florence, Italy receiving a Masters Degree from Dominican University with a specialization in Art Conservation. In addition to studio work on easel paintings, Jonathan Sherman has worked on the conservation of numerous murals onsite and has served as a consultant on the restoration of historic interiors including murals and decorative painting.
