YEE-HAW!! SUGARFOOT RIDES AGAIN!!
by Geri Reichgut
July 31, 2014 -- Tuesday, July 29th, television cowboy star Will Hutchings of the 1950's ABC Warner Brothers western Sugarfoot saddled up and made a guest appearance at The Glen Cove Senior Center. The audience was treated to one of his favorite episodes "The Canary Kid". It first aired in season 2, on November 11, 1958. Mr. Hutchins, who lives in the North Shore area, played the leading role as Tom Brewster, the young lawyer from the Oklahoma Territory. This fast-paced, action packed episode about the notorious Canary Kid and his sinister plans kept everyone on the edge of their seat and longing for those bygone days when there were over 130 western television shows to watch! Mr. Hutchins told stories of the old west and television stars like Roy Rogers, James Garner and Hop-along Cassidy. The Sugarfoot series ran for four seasons from 1957 - 1961. At present, the first three seasons can be seen on DVDs. Many of the audience members wore their best cowboy hats and boots with their finest western attire! For all those pardners who missed the show, Sugarfoot will return with more films and stories during the evening hours this fall. BACK TO WEEKLY |
