THE FREE CHOICEReceived from Tom Murphy, Sea Cliff
May 12, 2014 To the Editor: It’s not often that a school district gets the opportunity to avail itself of the services of a teacher and administrator with a combined 20 years of outstanding professional educational experience for a grand total of zero dollars. The North Shore School District is being presented with that option by one of the three candidates running for one of the two upcoming trustee vacancies. That candidate is Lara Gonzales. Ms. Gonzales, currently an administrator in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District, holds five years of supervisory level leadership in addition to almost fifteen years as a secondary social studies instructor in the Great Neck and New York City school systems. She and her husband, John are the parents of three children who will be attending North Shore at each school level next year-elementary, middle and high school. Ms. Gonzales not only gets to work the public education system from the professional side every day, she gets to see how it manifests itself in real time at home-every day. There is no one who currently sits or will be sitting on the North Shore School Board next year that can bring that level and value of experience to our school community. In Ms. Gonzales, the school district would not only be getting exceptional educational experience and value for free, it would be getting a trustee who is free of any encumbrances or allegiances to any particular group or person when it comes to making decisions that she believes are fair and right. She has the knowledge, experience and integrity to stand on her own two feet and is beholden to no one in particular for her decisions. She understands that a trustee’s obligation is to the community at large and has vowed to operate with that in mind. Use your election choice to vote for Lara Gonzales. Value for free. Free to make her own decisions. Tom Murphy Sea Cliff |
