CITY OF GLEN COVE T HOST SUNSET 9/11 REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY SEPTEMBER 11 AT 6 PM AT PRATT PARK
August 29, 2016 -- Recognizing the 15th anniversary of a day that forever changed our lives, Glen Cove Mayor Reggie Spinello will host a special sunset ceremony on Sunday, September 11th at 6:30 p.m. at Glen Cove’s 9/11 Memorial in Pratt Park, 10 Glen Cove Avenue. Joining the Mayor will be representatives of the Glen Cove City Council, Glen Cove Police Department, Volunteer Fire Department, Auxiliary Police, Glen Cove EMS, Harbor Patrol, and Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce along with distinguished guests, musicians, and local veterans.
“This year will mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and although much time has passed, the memories of those lost and the pain suffered on that day remains fresh on the minds of many in our community, said Mayor Spinello. “We will never forget the 2,997 people whose lives were lost on that tragic day and with each passing year we continue to honor and remember the four Glen Cove residents - Edward J. Lehman, Matthew T. McDermott, John F. Puckett and Joseph J. Zuccala - whose lives were stolen from their family and friends.” “Glen Cove residents are invited to join the remembrance ceremony as the program will pay tribute to the fallen, recognize the heroic acts of first responders and everyday people, and remind us how the Glen Cove community came together to support its own,” added Mayor Spinello. At the close of the ceremony, candles will be lit to honor those innocent lives that were lost as a result of one of the darkest days in American history. BACK TO WEEKLY |
