GLEN HEAD SCHOOL HARVEST FESTIVAL WITH SPECIAL GUESTS FROM NATURE NICK'S ANIMAL ADVENTURES
North Shore Schools, Glen Head, NY, November 4, 2016 - Students and faculty at Glen Head welcomed fall with their annual Harvest Festival on October 31st, with a special guest appearance by Nature Nick’s Animal Adventures!
This year, Nature Nick, who also is certified teacher with two degrees in Childhood Education in New York, entertained students with his exotic animals including an albino kangaroo only six months old, a large bird of prey (owl), a turtle, snake, large eared fox, and a monkey! Nature Nick told the students how he has approximately 30 animals at his home on Eastern Long Island that he shares with his wife. As the students watched with excitement, Nature Nick told humorous stories and educated those in the audience about his different animals and the adventures they have shared together. But that’s not all! Students and parents in all of the classrooms participated in many harvest crafts and activities. Around Glen Head, you could see second graders divided into four harvest stations where children were weighing apples in grams on scales and measuring the circumference with tape measures. Many of these apples will be dehydrated and utilized during Grand Apple Day! Other students were making dream catchers with the help of parent volunteers. In addition, many students were also at stations concentrating on their Harvest Literacy and Math packets that included fun puzzles, word searches, and color by numbers all related to this special day! Many thanks to the GH PTO and teachers, for organizing such a wonderful event to coincide with the Harvest Festival for all of the students to enjoy.
