NORTH SHORE STUDENTS RECOGNIZED BY THE NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Principal, Albert Cousins of North Shore High School recently announced that 13 students were named National Merit Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. They placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test. 34,000 commended students are being recognized for their exceptional academic progress. The following North Shore young men and women demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success: Jacob Abramowitz, Justin Baadarani, Connor Creavin, Christian J. Diaz, Andrew M Douglas, Katerina K Ganasoulis, Jessica Hannon, Talia Pelts, Julia Reilly, Anna Rothenberg, Stephanie Zelenetz, Katerina Ganasoulis, and Connor Creavin. Approximately, 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2015 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). A spokesperson for the Nation Merit Scholarship Program said. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.
